SUMMER HORSEBACK TRIPS

JOIN US FOR A SPECTACULAR VACATION ON HORSEBACK

BALD MOUNTAIN - GRAHAM PEAK PACK TRIP

Mid June thru Mid July
This pack trip leaves from the Poison Park trail head in the Upper Piedra area and goes into the Weminuche Wilderness and Piedra Primitive Area. Horseback riding, sight-seeing and photography along with seeing abundant wildlife is available on this trip. Camp is located at 10,800' altitude in a large grassy meadow which takes about 4 hours to reach. The scenic views are unparalleled and normally there is a lot of snow on the mountains in June. From the camp, we take day trips horseback for sight-seeing and photography. We furnish a complete camp. All you need to bring is your personal gear. Dome tents are used for lodging with sleeping mats to sleep on. All meals are prepared by our cook and are served in our cook tents which has tables with benches to sit at with the comp forts of home. Guides, wrangler, cook and all meals are included.

Maximum of 6 persons per trip.

TURKEY LAKE FISHING AND SIGHT-SEEING PACK TRIP

Mid July thru August
This is our most spectacular pack trip. This trip leaves from Jackson Mountain trailhead and travels up Turkey Creek to our camp located at 11,000' altitude and it take 4 1/2 hours of riding time including a lunch stop half way. The varieties of things to see and do from fishing to filming wildlife, flowers and mountain scenery or just sitting by the lake in camp and relaxing can make an enjoyable vacation. Each day we take day trips from the camp for horseback riding, sight-seeing, photography or fishing. Tent lodging with cots and foam mats for sleeping quarters, cook tent where all meals are prepared by our cook and you sit down at a table and benches with the comforts of home. Shower facitities are also available. Guides, wrangler, cook and all meals are included. This trip is in the Weminuche Wilderness. Maximum 6 persons per trip.

CONTINENTAL DIVIDE PROGRESSIVE PACK TRIP

Trips are in August
This is one of our most popular pack trips for the horse enthusiast. Travel down the famous Continental Divide beginning at various trailheads and riding to different camp locations with the trip terminating at the famous Wolf Creek Pass. While traveling on the great Divide, you will camp at 10500'-11500' in altitude each night and cross the famous 14000' South River Peak on the West Fork of the San Juan. The scenery can't be matched anywhere. Some fishing is available on the 1st day of the trip although this is primarily a sight-seeing pack trip. The scenery is unparalleled and wild flowers and wildlife are abundant. Dome tent lodging with foam mats is provided in the camp. All meals, guides, wrangler and cook are included. Client furnishes personal gear. This trip is in the Weminuche Wilderness. Minimum age is 14 years and a maximum of 6 persons per trip.

SUMMER RIDE IN or WALK IN DROP CAMPS

Our summer drop camps leave from various trailheads in the San Juan National Forest. Ride In trips include 1 saddle horse per person, 1 pack mule per 2 persons (150 lbs. max. per pack mule) each way. 2 person trips include 1 pack mule per person. Walk in trips include our packing your gear, food and pack frame into a pre-arranged camp location allowing 1 pack mule for every 2 persons (150lbs. max. per animal each way). We can pack you in and return to pick you up at a prearranged time. Client is to provide all their own camping gear and food. Minimum of 2 persons.

PACK TRIP DEPOSITS
A $100.00 per person partial non refundable deposit will secure dates on a summer booking until April 15 when the balance of the 50% deposit is due. Trips booked after April 15 require 50% deposit. Balance of fee is due before departure for trip and is payable by cashier's check, money order or cash. No credit cards accepted for final payment. The terms of this deposit shall commence upon execution and continue until terminated by the client with or without cause by written notice 60 days in advance for the summer trips-mailed to the outfitter at P.O. Box 4190, Pagosa Springs CO 81157. A 25% refund of deposit will be made on summer pack trips if terminated 60 days prior to summer trip. Otherwise, deposit will be forfeited. NO REFUNDS will be made if agreement is terminated less then 60 days prior to summer trip (no exceptions will be made).

TRANSPORTATION
Airline service is available to nearby Durango CO. For those wanting this pick up and return service, you need to make a motel reservation at one of the motels in Durango and take a shuttle to the motel. We will pick you up on the day you pack in at that motel and return you to that motel on the day you pack out. Fee of $25.00 per person round trip will be collected with final payment.

ABOUT OUR CABINS...
Cabin #1- Large two room cabin with 2 queen beds, hide a bed and kitchen area in one room. Bunk beds in other room. Carpeted. Bath with Tub and Shower.
Cabin #2- Small three room cabin with 2 double beds and dining area in one room. Small kitchen and bath with shower. Carpeted.
Cabin #3-#6- These units can be rented with or without a kitchenette. Room area has two double beds. Baths with tub and shower. Carpeted. #3 & #4 or #5 & #6 can be rented as two bedroom units.
Kitchenettes- have tables & chairs, gas stoves, refrigerators, microwaves, dishes and cooking utensils. Other amenities, Charcoal BBQ grills and picnic tables on patios.

CABIN RESERVATIONS AND DEPOSITS
Should be made in advance as much as possible. 1/3 deposit is required. Balance due upon arrival. Cash, traveler's checks, Visa, Mastercard or Discover accepted.
Note: Reservations for 4 days or longer require 1/3 deposit which won't be refunded unless cabin can be rebooked for the same amount of time. Deposit for cabins during hunting season won't be refunded unless the cabin can be rebooked for the same amount of time. Credit card guarantee required for 1-3 days.

1 and 2 hour rides depart daily from Piedra River Resort between 9:00 a.m. & 5:00 p.m. No reservations needed. 1/2 day, all day, and cookouts require reservations guaranteed with credit card. Our rides run 7 days a week from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Rides in March, April, early May and after Labor Day by reservation only. No age limit.

FLY - SPIN CAST FISHING DAY TRIP
Fish the Piedra River via horseback so as to reach the remote areas of the river. Let us get you to the best places to fish. The Piedra River holds some of the greatest rainbow and brown trout fishing in the area. Semi-Guided. Horses and lunch are included. Client needs to furnish their own equipment and license.
